One of the needs in our modern world of telecommunications is the digitization of old documents. VIT is helping to achieve this, in cooperation with a partner, for a project for the Wikimedia Foundation (Wikipedia). For this, 160 works of the "Encyclopédie du Monde Actuel" by Charles-Henri Favrod are being digitized in four languages.
 
Up to 1,000 book pages can be captured per hour. The scans are then converted per OCR and then checked manually for errors. Afterwards, a true to the original PDF is generated and backed with the generated full text. The text content and images are then made available for import into Wikipedia.

In collaboration with the bj institute, it is now possible to install digitalisation stations for customers (also available as a rental). Interested parties are trained and can now digitize printed material, books, brochures, slide and photo libraries, themselves - flexibly, simply and effectively. Subsequently, the data can be processed further in our partner company in India.

Now a solution can be offered, in which the original material does not leave the company or organization. It is thereby possible to build efficient workflows and to realize time- and resource saving digitization projects.
